Funny that so far only women answered a question that should be answered directly by a man. The answer is absolutely yes !! We males do have that paternal instinct to protect and nuture our offspring. Of course that doesn't mean all of us are good fathers, just as not all women are good mothers. Also, the younger the male parent, the less apt he is to be a good father, for obvious reasons.

I would think so. Because they are the protectors of not only their mate but the offspring as well. So their instincts are to provide support and shelter and protection for the offspring and the spouse. The mothers just have the more nurturing nature though.

I believe they do to a certain degree, but it's not as strong...or they don't pay attention to it as much. Case in point: Last summer, my husband was working in another town and I was on vacation with girlfriends. My sister was watching the kids and for some reason I got this sick feeling in my stomach and had to call home. Nobody answered the phone and the feeling got worse. I didn't even hesitate...I changed in my plane tickets and was on the next plane home. Turns out, my son had a horrible accident and everyone was at the hospital. But my husband said that something in his head was telling him to call home about the time of the accident as well, and he just ignored it and waited for his normal nightly call to say goodnight to the kids. So for some men, who are really in tune with their kids, I think it's there...they just don't listen to it.

Yep, some men do, but not all. Just like some women do, but not all.
