First stop blaming yourself. All people do this at least once in their lifetime.

Find something to distract yourself. Pour yourself into school or work. Take up a hobby or sport. Exercise. Travel. Avoid activities that remind you of him/her. Volunteer your time to benefit someone else. Clean your house from top to bottom.

You won't be able to stop thinking of him/her at first. But every day, every week that goes by you will be less and less addicted.

Get away from the TV, get off the computer. Do something physical and distracting.

Give yourself time, resist the urge no matter what to contact them again. Delete emails, refuse IM's, return letters, avoid places that he/she might be. Do all of this until enough time has passed that you are not tempted by this self destructive behavior. Good luck.

Keep reminding yourself that it was onesided and you are the only one who cared. Keep yourself busy with other things to do so you dont have to stew over it anymore.

Separate yourself from that person completely. Out of sight will eventually lead to out of mind. The emptiness will eventually fade with time. I know how you feel...I've been there and...it sucks.

Therapy. Simple as that. Counseling will help you understand yourself better, and then you can make positive changes...whatever that might mean for you and your situation.
