My fiance and I recently have become engaged and are worried about how his parents are going to react. I don't have parents so that isn't an issue. I really want his family to continue accepting me and not get upset about our engagement. What is a good way of breaking the news to them without upsetting them as they will most likely see me as taking their oldest son away.?!

Why don't they like you?! Maybe take THEM out to dinner and tell them. That way you're in public so they can't make a scene..

I don't think they would see it that way, if they trully have no problem being together up until now. So just take them out to a nice dinner and break it to them over dessert. Or even invite them over to your place and do the same thing. They should totally love the idea of gaining a daughter-in-law unless they have been opposed of your dating for some time.

You could do this....write a nice lovely letter explaining to your parents that you had to quit your job because your boyfriend knocked you up and you are running off to vegas to get married. Then skip to the end of the letter and write PS...just kidding, we didn't know how to break the news that we are engaged, nobody's pregnant and we plan on taking our time through this and would love to have your blessings.

The shock is quickly replaced with relief and everyone gets a good little chuckle out of it.

how old are u?if you're in the right age i dont see any reason wo worry..unless you're 16...lol kidding..but yeah, just tell them (parents) that you've been waiting for this moment and that u really want to take your relationship to another level..if they react or somethin, be sure to assure them that they'll always be a part of your life and that you'll never make this a way to take sonny away for mom and dad... i think most parents would feel that way but in the end, they'll realize they've been there and im sure they will understand... hope this helps..good luck!

If they liked you before then they will like you after. Just tell them. Your marrying him NOT them. They will get used to the idea..
