My favorite teacher was a teacher I had in the fifth grade.
She was kind and compassionate, but strict - no sympathy when homework wasn't done (without a valid excuse). On providing an excuse, she'll go to the trouble of helping you catch up on late homework.
She had all the time in the world for the "not so intelligent" student who tried hard. Lazy ones often got a talking to - not an angry talk, just one to explain why students had to do homework/study for tests (to get ahead in life). And most often it worked!
She lived for her students. She'd make house calls on sick students, bring extra sandwiches for the hungry ones, listen to the sad ones' woes, and know each child's ability and potential as if she had godly insight.
I'm also a teacher, and I strive to be like her. I'm not getting close to her, but when one of my 6year olds came to me the other day and sayd, "I wish you were my mommy," I realized that I'm doing at least something right!

He was a history teacher that always found a way to make the class interesting. He was the kind of teacher that made you feel like learing was not a chore but an adventure. There has been many times in my life when I have thought of him and the way he taught.

Thinking outside the text book...
My favorite high school teacher is a tie between English and American History. My English teacher got creative with essay assignments. My favorite was... You can invite any three people to dinner. Who are they (dead or alive, real or imaginary), where do you have dinner, what is for dinner, and what do you talk about? My history teacher taught us about the personalities of the different people in history not just what was written in the text book.

Probably activities that students actually enjoy, such as games, fun projects, etc.
Prizes like candy for small tasks such as completing homework on time, being in class, putting names on papers.
Funniness. Students usually like humor when they're bored at school.
Making sure that the students could understand things, and being friendly and open about having students come to you at lunch or during different periods (after elementary school).
Just try not to be grumpy or super mad when you are grumpy or super mad, because students get kinda obnoxious when teachers are like that.

i always like the teachers that can relate to me. if they're so focused on the teacher/student relationship, it's no good. it's the teachers that are willing to talk to you and help you out with everything that are the best. share experiences about you so that they know that you're a real person, and don't yell and boss them around. have fun projects and group discussions to involve the class so it doesn't always seem like you teaching them. and on the first day of his class, we talked about scars that we had and how they shaped who we were. that was the only class that really sticks out in my mind.

my fifth grade teacher mr. salazar. he always took interest in us, was very funny, and tried to help us with problems if we needed it. like i always got picked on and he told me that i didn't need them and that whe i was successful and they weren't it would come back to bite them. he was supportive, fun and had great field trips. he didn't take crap from anyone either.
my first grade teacher was great too, when i called a kid a b*tch ( had no idea what it meant, the kid's name was mitch and it rhymed) she didn't get mad at all even though half the school told on me. don't think i've had any remarkable teachers in high school. but you never know what will come!

He was really funny, and on the first day, he took like 500 minutes trying to get attendance. And besides, we could sit wherever we wanted in his class. It was awesome!
