I am a college graduate with a humanities degree (what a waste). Anyway, I've heard that there are amazing opportunities in Canada right now in connection to the oil and natural gas industries for both skilled and non-skilled workers. Does anyone know whether it is possible for an American without trade skills to get their foot in the door with one of these Canadian companies and to also get a working visa? Also, any extra information about the current Canadian job boom situation would be welcomed. I'm particularly interested in information regarding entry level opportunities.

I would try to get a list of some of the companies that might have opportunities and contact their HR Dept directly.
It's true, there are more jobs than people at the moment.

Yeah, but it's not likely to be something in your background. There are a lot of marketing/IT jobs and things such as that. Furthermore, the only way you'll get a look is if they can't get a Canadian to fill the job.
Sorry, but metoo is wrong...dead wrong. I know a student who couldn't find a job here after graduating, though she wanted to stay, she had to go back to Canada b/c her student visa expired and she needed a work visa.
Anyway, another way to get over there is to apply at companies that have headquarters in the USA and Canada, and get a job transfer if you can get hired on. But the USA sucks right now for jobs, and the government isn't helping to keep anybody employed, while the greedy...oh, forget it. Look at the sites, they should help you.

i'm satisfied for you about the inheritance. it will make it extra accessible that you'll come to Canada, because the finest thanks to get everlasting position of living is as an investor. once you've some organization journey, a internet properly worth of $a million, six hundred,000 CAD, and also you're waiting to make investments a minimum of $800,000 CAD into the Canadian monetary equipment, you could develop into an enduring resident. do not worry--the authorities purely needs you money on mortgage--you receives it back in "about 5 years and a couple of months after price," even with the undeniable fact that it will be with out any interest. in the journey that your inheritance is not that vast, there are nevertheless some recommendations you could benefit PR status in Canada. For one, in the journey that your internet properly worth is a minimum of $three hundred,000 CAD and also you've some organization journey, you could come the following as an entrepreneur and open a sparkling organization. the in ordinary words requirement for the self-employment type is that you both have "proper journey which will make an major contribution to the cultural or athletic existence of Canada" OR "journey in farm administration and the objective and skill to purchase and deal with a farm in Canada." If none of those ideas tournament you, then your different selections are to go back as a experienced worker or scholar. less than the experienced worker type, you want to get an organization to sponsor your PR application, and the organization has to teach that they made a sensible attempt to locate an section candidate. As a scholar, you could initially come to Canada on a non everlasting scholar visa, subsidized through a Canadian submit-secondary employer, and in a while report for PR less than the "Canadian journey classification." Oh, and in case you talk French, you're attracted to shifting to Quebec--we've our immigration procedure, become independent from that of something else of Canada, that favours those who talk French already!
