I've heard it's very harmful down there because of the Ozone hole, Have you been there? If so did you notice that?

Lived here for over 30 years. Can't say I've noticed any difference between here and anywhere else in the tropics.

Although I haven't been there, I have studied the "ozone hole". There is no ozone hole, there is just a thinning. If there were a hole, all the air in the earth would be sucked out into outer space. Man has nothing to do with the thinning. CFCs have never been proven to deplete ozone. If you ask any true scientist the truth, the ozone layer has thinned before and regained its thickness. It is now thinning again, part of a cycle.

Apparently in that area there is more damage to the ozone layer, which is natures way of protecting us from Ultra Violet rays, which can cause skin cancer. This hole is supposed to be the size of Antarctica, so it is huge and that is a lot, lot more damaging rays getting in. This hole is not due to the emissions from the countries in that area it is from the whole of the industrialised world. The USA being one of the biggest culprits in emissions and refusing to sign the Kyoto Treaty to reduce these. When I was in Australia 16 years ago people there were a lot more aware of the problem than us in the UK and were taking a lot more precautions against the sun because of this hole, and they seemed a lot more aware of their environment and the harm man is doing to it.

Probably an exaggeration. There are regions near the South Pole where the ozone is thinner than elsewhere, and would permit additional ultraviolet rays to reach the surface. You might get more of a sunburn if you go there; wear a hat.

I have been there, and yes, they recommend putting a time limit on sun exposure and pretty much sell nothing short of 45 rated sunblock.
