Well when you apply for your job don't lie on you application. Just say that you have been arrested and at your interview, you get a chance to plead your case, so to speak. You paid your debts to society so they should not be held against you. I once quit a job and told my boss off, but I was young. I went back 5 years later and got the same job but in a different dept. but it was still on my record. I explained what happened that day and that I was a lot younger. I wasn't married with children and didn't have any responsibilities.......now that I'm older I would value my position and my job and would never do what I did then........ I was hired and was the best at what I did............ they hated to see me go this time but I moved to another state. But now I can get that job back anytime. They even gave me a letter of recommendation to take with me on my new job search. But if they find out that you lied on your application you will never get the job. Honesty gains much respect. And a lot of people I know work decent jobs and have past they are not proud of that involve the law and being arrested.......... Good Luck

You can have them esponged. That will keep them from showing up in most cases. They will still show if a court or law enforment agency looks at your records. You'll also have to disclose them if you go for any type of licensing (nursing, etc.) But, when you apply for a job as a receptionist at a real estate office, they won't show.
It's jsut a matter of paperwork, no court appearance. You can have an atty do it for a few hundred, a paralegal would be cheaper, or you can do it yourself. It's a form that you fill out.

Every employer doesn't deny you a job based on that alone. Especially if it was years ago. It allows for you to explain what happen. You are now living on the right side of life. Pray that God lead you to the employer that's going to be understanding and give you a chance to prove yourself a successful part of society, and He will. He didn't bless you with a beautiful family just to watch you sit around and struggle from not being able to get a job. Trust Him. I wish you the best!

It's never too late to get an education and go back to school, even for an associate's degree or go to a techinical school. It can take as long as 6 months to 2 years! You can make a decent living and the fact that you had gone to college would be an upside on your resume and show your employers that you really are changed.

depends on what you were arrested for, most the time most things don't even come up on background checks because i've seen this with the people i work with we run them on everyone and most the time people tell us stuff they did in the interview because they think it will come up with the background check but then they come up clean, we dont hire them anyways becaue either they are a liar or a xcon, so i guess what im trying to say is aim low that way the checks wont be as through.

Depending on the time and the courts in your area where the crime occured, you can hire an attorney and petition the court to explunge your record, That way it will not show up on any standard employment search, it would still show up for the police records and any national secuirty search but not on standard employment searches

Howe about letting them know right up front and explain that you have changed, rather than waiting for the check?

congrats to you on your current situation.

well that's the catch-22 of our society. when you get out of jail, society still villifies you as if you were still inside. unfortunately, all i can say is stick with the job hunt, and try to explain your previous situation to any potential employer, hope they understand. otherwise keep looking. i know it sucks.

if it was from when you were under eighteen then the records should be sealed and not show what you did in the background check (it will still show that you were arrested just not what for)

Do you go to a 12 step program? that's how most of us change our lives. talk to a lawyer and tell him you could get a character reference (someone who would know that you have changed your life). good luck
