Iran is about six times larger than the UK in area.
population is slightly larger and its economic base is smaller, though growing with its exports of oil and gas to china!..

As for actual size, Iran is many times larger.

Iran - 17th Largest - 1,648,195km^2
UK - 79 Largest - 242,900km^2

Iran has a much larger land mass than G.B.
also a bigger population (all though we are not sure how many people are actually here now we are probably catching up)
