on a very well protected demo program? I'm poor, unemployed and need this program to reconstruct my portfolio which was also on the same computer lost in a flood.

I should clarify: When I say "lost", I mean physically disposed of along with debris - the flood was in an apartment, and caused the second floor to collapse down into/on my apt. I was not allowed back in by the fire dept. The program is (Adobe) Illustrator. I had the complete CS2 suite at my job, from which I was fired because I didn't show up for several days while trying to find other accomodations. ...See - You really had a wonderful life George Bailey.

If I were you I would back your stuff up to a cd. But System Restore Main purpose is to restore only the windows related files. Unless of course your demo is in the checkpoint of the system restore, and that you have a problem. Because it would delete that. If it is not, then I would not worry about it, I did a system restore lots of times and it never touched my programs except for the ones that were on the checkpoint.

REMINDER: when it does do the system restore function, it will clear out the add/remove programs and possible the start menu. So it would appear as if your program has been deleted. So you would need to search for it.

SAFE OVERALL-Back Up your software. My teachers in A+ N+ Cisco Switches/Routers always said that. Computers do some weird stuff sometimes.

It may be possible, BUT Expensive.....

It depends on what you mean by "very well protected." System Restore does not change anything in your My Documents folder. If there are things I don't want to lose when I do a System Restore, I stash them in there until after the restoration is complete.
