I have a lawyer friend living in Latin America who wants to come live in the States, what does she have to do to become a lawyer here aside from taking the bar?

I think that is all she needs to do but she can ask when she signs up for the bar and contrary to some peoples belief, we have a great need for Lawyers that will be more understanding of the latin culture

The last thing this country needs is another lawyer. Why not ask her to change professions and become something useful, productive, and honorable in our society?

It would be easier if she found a teaching gig at a university or community college in the states.........then the school does all the work. I have a lot of veterinarians from foreign countries that teach here for a number of years before returning home.

first needs a work visa to be allowed in.

Need to check with the particular state bar and see what is needed to be a lawyer in that state.
