Well, it is ok but it sounds like you could be forming a bad habit of snacking. When your baby finishes the 5 oz has she/he sucked the bottle dry? If so, add another ounce to the larger bottle. Keep doing this until he/she is satisfied. I know feeding on demand is a popular idea but it could really wear you out quickly. I always aim for a feeding every 3 hours by the 2 week mark.

I have a 7 mo. old and a six year old. The youngest was very sporadic about her eating. She would eat 2 ounces, and an hour later want 3 more. The doctor said it was fine, and not to worry, she knew what she needed. So, I would say, don't worry about it, mine's a healthy, happy 7 mo. old now. The only thing I would worry about is if your baby is spitting up after eating, and then wanting more, he/she may be overfilling herself.

It means that your baby isn't getting enough to eat. Try putting a little rice cereal in the formula (about 1-2 Tablespoons) That should make the baby feel fuller.

So long as baby has at least 6 wet diapers a day, and is gaining enough weight, baby can pretty much eat as much or as little as he/she wants to. They aren't born gluttons, they only eat when they're hungry.

Babies are smart, they eat when they're hungry and won't when they aren't. I say feed your baby when he's hungry, but before you figure that's what he wants make sure you've checked everything else..i.e. wet diaper, room temp, etc.
