It's a piece of paper they give you at the store so you can purchase an item they are out of, at the sale price when they get it back in stock.

A rain check in a store is when they are out of something that was on sale. They will give you a rain check and you can come in later when they re-stock and get that idem for sale price. But if you offer someone something,and they say "I'll take a rain check on that." it means not now but maybe later.
