I can't stand it and I also hate when Jazz singers do all of that wiggling their voice around, but they aren't really saying anything and there is no resolution. The only Jazz singers that I like are Harry Connick Jr., Diana Krall, and Michael Buble. I also like to hear some of the older vocal Jazz like Sinatra and Torme', but I mainly hate Instumental Jazz and that wiggling of the voice by some people as I've already stated.

Miles Davis is exactly the type of stuff that I dislike so much. Also, I'm not whining, I just get sick of hearing how some people act like it's so cool and so posh to like Jazz. It sounds like random, impromptu noise more than actual music by design. Personally I think that most good music came from Gospel or Blues.

See, you have great taste! I like the same kind of jazz along with what I like to call "sexy jazz." The "wiggling their voice around" is called "scatting," and it has become way too common-so much so that every other young singer has forgotten what a melody is. Music is written the way it is, and is successful the way it for a reason. People like it that way. I guess people also like scatting, otherwise it wouldn't be done so much. There are so many branches to jazz, for instance "acid jazz" is my least favorite. This is where music is distorted to a point of making an instrument sound ugly(to me). It's frantic and disorganized...I am with you, and applaud your taste. Have a great night.

First of all, Harry Connick Jr. is NOT jazz.

Go listen to some Miles Davis and get enlightened.

KENMAN I'm with you, esp. Chet and Miles. Charlie Parker's good too.
