Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I think its one of the best films ever. There is something in it that all hopeless romantics can relate to.
To a lesser extent I always thought the Secret Garden was a good one too, in that a father could not really handle the death of his wife and the life of his son because he's son bore such a striking resemblance to his dead lover.

Jane Austins novel "Pride & Prejudice"
It has been made into Films 5-6 times, most recently in 2005,
but my favorite version was a1995 BBC mini-series, with Colin Firth., as Mr Darcy
The modern version, also with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy, "Briget Jones Diary" is also good.

Too old for y'all but it would have to be "Strangers when we meet" . Kirk Douglas, Kim Novak, Walter Matteau, Erie Kovaks. Rent it if you can...
One other would be "Any Wednesday"
"Same time next year". Gregory Peck & Debra Kerr"
