The only websites that appear on the address bar are ones you have visited. With some you have to type them in manually; others will appear on the address bar if you follow a link that opens them.
I'm assuming you know how to clear the address bar cashe; Click on Tools, or on Edit--depending on your OS. Then click Settings , or Preferences; then clear History. Your address bar cache will be empty, the currently open website address will disappear when you close the browser or go to a new website.

I go to "tools", "internet options", "delete cookies", "delete files", "clear history". In that order too. Though, I don't think doing it out of order will make any difference...except for the first two parts. Come on, if that's not best answer material, I don't know what is. It's a whole lot better than the other answers here(even though they're all basically the same). Mine's got character.

Have you cleared your history folder?
On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the General tab, under "History" click Clear History.
If the addresses return ,you might want to download and run adaware(free spyware program..which is highly rated..) good luck!

Go to the control panel on your computer. Then click on Internet options. After openeing internet options it should be on general if not click on that tab on the top. The click on delete browsing history. There you have it. If it is something eles you can always go to add and delete programs. Find the program you don't want and remove it.

Got to the history button if you desire to only delete a select few off of your history (right click the ones you want to delete then select delete) Go toTools then internet options if you desire to clear your entire history and that is on Internet Explorer.

Tools > Internet Options > Clear History
Damn, I type too slow... someone already said that, but what they forgot to tell you was that ALL your links will disappear. To my knowledge, there is no easy way to delete JUST the link you don't want - you have to toast them all dude... sorry.
