It doesn't annoy me that they voice their opinions...everyone has that freedom. What annoys me it how much weight their opinion is given. So they can act or sing or dance...or whatever...but why should that make what they say any more valid than the bub that flips patties at your local burger king. Or somethin like that....

It use to bother me in the past, not as much now. What is sad is some do not even know what they are saying , that little comment they may say will influence another group of people that take the word of this celerbrity as Gospel. That is dangerous.
Celebrities shoul be able to express an opinion , but carefully and tactfully. With research on both sides.
The public also should not depend on another person for news o n politics. We should read, listen, investigate and make up our individual mind.
We as a society put way too much responsibility on celebrity. We do the same to our teachers. School is to learn not babysit our children. We as a society have dumped too much on someone else . We stopped parenting, thinking, even feeling.
Becuse they may appear on film, print ads or whatever, they are still like us, do the samethings as we do, and some really listen to the news. Who are they to speak for us?
They are in th epublic eye and no matter how hard they tsomehow will mis quoted or a line printed out of context ,ry they are still in th espotlight. Leave political comments to CNN .

Absolutely! We all have opinions and a right to voice them, but celebrities have a much greater ability to get people to hear them. I don't mind them showing up to political venues to voice their opinion alongside everyone else. However, when they choose a non-political place to express their opinions (*cough* The Dixie Chicks) I think that is over stepping the appropriate boundaries. I think that celebrities in the very least should expect a backlash from those that carry differing points of view. We all have freedom of speech - we also all have consequences for our actions.

Yeah, though, celebrities in general irritate me. All they do is act and get taped doing it, and yet they get paid millions of dollars. People treat them like gods just for entertaining, people act like they're everything. Celebrities don't deserve the money they get and yet they never give back to the people that gave so much to them...I kind of digressed but that's ok

Heck yes, most of them are screwed up anyways. Then they come out of rehab or the institution and try to tell regular people how they should think.(give me a break) I just watch movies and that's the only time I want to see them. I don't want to hear about their petty problems or see the cars and houses they own, or hear about who they are banging. I actually don't know hardly anyone who does. Makes me wonder where the people who buy into that crap live?

It doesn't irritate me when they voice them, but when they try to sway people to their opinion just because of their
celebrity status.
