usually it means, rest and relaxation. but i dont know, there might be more than one acronym for it.

"Rest & Relaxation". During the Vietnam conflict we would fight until we could hardly stand; but depending on the area you were in we could get a "hop" for a week-end, like liberty and have a good time. Drink, get drunk, mess with the Hainoa ladies, and return in 48 hours back to the "killing fields". That was R & R.
