Horses can swim. Many things with four legs can swim. I'm having a hard time thinking of those that can't—maybe giraffes because of their balance and fear of four legged alligators. Porcupines float and doggies paddle.

Yep, horses can swim. Swimming is often used as excercise for imjured horses since allows them to work out without putting any weight on their limbs.
The only four legged animals that we know can't swim are apes and, astonishingly, hippopotamuses. Adult hippos are so dense that, when placed in water, they promptly sink to the bottom. They can only make it to shore by walking alng the bottom. However baby hippos can swim.

There are many animals with 4 legs that can swim. That is why it is called the doggy paddle. Ha Ha. As for horses, ummmm, I remember hearing somewhere that they can't but I thought they could. But then again I only saw it in the movies.
