Anything between 7-9 hours a day would be good...

anywhere from eight to ten hours. At that age I was still able to sleep almost indefinitely, until noon or beyond, when I had gone to bed before midnight.

That is a delightful age, when you sleep the sleep of the young. For the last couple of decades, I wake up at 6:00 or before, if not just to wake up, to pee. I WISH I could go back to sleep and sleep until an irritated roomie/spouse/parent insisted on my arousal.

Many young people at the age of 21 are actually still growing, and need more sleep than the rest of us in our waning years.

Why do you ask this question? If you are getting grief about the amount you sleep, rest easy (pun intended) and enjoy your youth.
