anyone know how to reformat a dell 2400 ?

my computer did not come with a reformatting disc

or restore disc all it came with was reinsatalling sonic record,monitor documentation,reinstalling modem software for windows and the last one is reinstallation of windows this one i did and it didnt fix anything at all

You cannot format your harddrive from the Windows system that you booted of the harddrive...you're already using it. So you have to boot up on a CD, or other device. Utility CDs and Operating System CDs allow you to boot of them, and run formats. Dells now come with a Utility partition you can boot too aswell, holding F12 when the computer starts up will allow you to choose this feature if your dell has it.

Yup, stick in the discs that came with it in order. Follow the on screen instructions.

hi

frist one have u WIN 98 Bootable cd if yes please insert in the cd-rom than select boot from cd in the BIOS then insert u r dell O/S cd if u r problem is not solve then delete u r HDD and recreat a partition and then install new O/S from other cd.

Either use the system restore disk that came with it, or type C:\fdisk at a DOS prompt, and say goodbye to all of your data.

use the restore disc(s) that they gave you, that or use the windows xp cd :) setting the cd / dvd drive as the first bootable device and it will walk you through it :)
