look for two plastic caps on a metal lines under the hood one is marked with L and the other with H. unscrew the plastic cap on L and connect the can gauge assembly. Read and follow lable directions and when the L low side pressure is about 15/30 psi depending on outside temp and directions show the pressure is right while the a/c is running disconnect the recharge system. Professionals ask questions like is the system slow to cool off the car? Did it work and suddenly quit? Look at the condencer and see if a rock hit it letting the freon charge out. Look for any oily residue on lines hoses and drains. A over charged system can cause just as much problems as a undercharged system. Professionals remove the freon check the weight of charge and look for the a/c lable and recharge to the correct weight.

.

.. you need a manifold / guages (i think) .. and then you just add the refrigerant into a service valve after the compressor .. usually before the condenser coil near the front of the car.

.. I am a 5th year Refrigeration apprentice .. but never touched a vehicle A/C before.

.. I actually have a service call tomorrow to fix a 134a small cooler box.
