Some people like to be controversial. But some people speak their minds honestly. In that case, if the honest answer isn't favorable to the asker, or points out flaws in logic or damaging behavior, then askers generally feel attacked. Sometimes though, what people suggest is so heinous that it warrants a kick in the pants.

They answers that yahoo questioners receive are hateful because it is a way for problematic people to release their penned up frustration with no way of letting the s h it hit the fan, so to speak. Why skip on a chance to totally clown somone when they are can't do it in reality because they would violoating the ettitquette of society? Why not bash on someone because there is virtually no way of finding who it is or ever coming across them in your lifetime? i personally like this particular segment of yahoo's webpage because for me - being unusually inquisitive - can find quick answers without any hassle. It is a shame that a few ingrates with nothing but itme have to sully it for all of us, bunch of nicompoop honey mustard suckers.

Because people think that because this is the internet, they have anonymity and the freedom to say anything they want.

This thought, however, only makes them more obnoxious and makes them targets for hackers and other annoying people.

I really wonder the same thing too, though, how people can be so mean.

It is a way to vent their frustrations incognito.

Life at home sux, so they are stuck online asking and answering questions to make themselves feel superior. Eventually, they will end up on TV claiming a crime they didn't commit.

I've seen the signs!

I was wondering the same thing. I ask serious questions and people are just so rude and I have to waste my time reading the rude answer.
