Pure HTML, about 3 - 5 days. As the first answer indicated, there is lots more than HTML used in web pages. By itself, HTML does very little. All the good stuff comes from using other things within the HTML.

It depends on how good you are in Softwares ,if you are computer student then 2 weeks for basic htmls if you are basic 1 month ,but nowedays you do not need to write htmls there are lot of tools available to just click and drag text box, button etc(design) it will write the code in the behind..

The nice thing about HTML is that you can produce decent results with very little, so you can be making web pages right from the start. There's a lot you can do beyond the basics; how fast and how far you advance depends on you.

HTML is pretty easy and extreamly forgiving. There is a fairly small subset of tags to learn so you can pick it up quickly.

There are a lot of little nuances, especially between the different browsers, that make professional design a little tricky, but the basics are quick and easy.

That depends on the persons ability and how far they want to go with html ( ie do they want to do extra things on top of html such as dhtml, javascript, vbscript, xml, cgi, asp, php etc etc ? )

Or is it just simply html ?

www.w3schools.com and www.htmlgoodies.com are 2 good sites :)

learning curve? there isn't one, HTML is so freaking basic, you can learn it in your sleep. when you get into the advanced stuff, is where you need to really pay attention. css, scripting, database integration.
