My step dad told me to change the fell pup and the air filter but I don’t know where they are at on the car if you can help me out on what you think is wrong with it or how to change the fell pup and the air filter then PLZ helps thanks

When you say started acting up on you what exactly did it do? Does it crank up and run when you hold your foot on the gas pedal just slightly?

Update: You have an Idle Air Control valve problem. It is not a major repair. I have seen thousands of these go bad, and cause your concern. The IAC valve lets air into the intake manifold when you have your foot off of the gas, or are idling the engine. At the dealer it is around 150 bucks repair. If it was the fuel pump, it would not run at all, and the air filter will not cause this type of concern, but you still want a clean air filter and fuel filter for the health of your engine at least every 30,000 miles. Replace the Idle Air control valve and I think your problem will be solved.

Fuel pump is in the gas tank and air filter is under the hood. Sounds like you need a little more help than good old step dad can offer. Loose Motor brackets might have allowed the engine to move to far pulling off the vacuum hose at the fire wall on what is called a MAP sensor the vacuum hose is about as big around as your little finger. look if see if that is it push the hose back on if it is split use back tape as a temporary repair then push it back on and see if it stays running. If not talk around your firends and see if any of them know a mechanic they go to for Fords.

don't change the fuel pump till you have it checked .. go to autozone and have a tool that takes the fuel line off it looks like a ring that slips around the fuel line under the hood by the fire wall on the car when taking these lines off beware cause the pressure in the lines are 12 psi if you have no pressure then your fuel pump is not pushing fuel. when you have the line off have a bottle or something around the line and turn the key if gas comes out then you just saved a lot of work and money for nothing!!!

My guess is that you're talking about a taurus and maybe a fell pup is really a fuel pump. Look inside the fuel tank for the pump........no, better yet, take it in for service. I don't believe you have the wherewithall to do the job.
