i installed my router and everything but the computer shows nothing i just wiped my computer and started over new and the tech support lady said i will be able to get back on the internet but all my d-link stuff is gone what do i do

you typically dont need the junk (software) that came with your wireless adapter (execpt the driver), if you need the driver/software go to the manfucature website and download it, read the instructions and install it. If the wireless adpater is PnP or plug and play, then you should be able to use the windows xp (if your running XP) control pannel (start->control pannel-network connections->right click something liek wireless conection and open it, then see if the computer sees your SSID (network ID) and hit connect, if you have a encrption key on your network you'll need to type it in.

if you installed your wireless router properly and nothing shows up on your PC, it is possible that the wireless card (radio) in your laptop PC is turned off.
Laptop makers allow you to turn on/off the radio in case you need to board an airplane where its not allowed to have the wireless card turned on.
Look for a function key combo on your keyboard and see if you can toggle the radio on/off
