Well, I'm into the mangas/animes Fruits Basket and .Hack... and I decided to think of a new anime/manga to get into, since I really like them! I went to the teen section's anime shelf, where I get my FB and .Hack, but Chobits, which a lot of people really like, I heard, was an Older Teen (16+) manga and I didn't know why. It looked really cute. Then on YouTube, where I decided maybe the anime could be better, I clicked on Chobits episode one, and you had to be over 18 to watch it, because it was flagged a mature anime. So I guess I'll find something else, I think I'm going to try Pita Ten or Full Moon, but before I do I want to know... what exactly is so mature about Chobits?!

Ah... Chobits. One of my favorites... In Japan there are robots known as Persocons, walking computers in the shape of humans which preform many mundane tasks. They seem to be incredibly expensive, if a student saved up enough money he might be able to buy a little one. A boy named Motosuwa Hideki who works at a bar and is also a prep student for college decides he's going to buy a one of these expensive robotic companions. Of course, being broke he can't afford one, but he finds a Persocon in the garbage outside of the store. Being an oppurtunistic guy, he takes her! The rest of the manga describes his trials and joys with the little Persocon he names Chi. Why it might be suggested for a slightly older audince is the the mild adult themes... nothing really bad, just perverted jokes here and there.

Chobits was an excellent series, however i was unaware that it was considered that mature. The manga itself contains a few images of breasts and some mature themes, but its all innocent nudity. But i recommend you find a way to purchase it because it was great.

the first episode/ volume is a little....ummm mature cause its when he first finds the persocon and he ummm...makes her work....but after that its really cute! I leik the manga more cause chii is more independant and is drawn so cute but the anime has its good points to ^-^ btu that's beside the question

For one thing, it has very perverted humor, and there are some images of nudity and some pornographic material, and that's just in the first two volumes.

probably just because he's in love with a chobits...and the sexual nature of the show. all i can say is it's an awesome show to watch, i got into it after i finished buying all of sailor moon and dragon slayer.

the "on" switch is in thier privates, nudity, sexual stuff is some of the stuff that make it for older teens.
