There are a lot of people and companies out there that will tell you moisturizers are a must. They drill it into your head that you must moisturize everyday, at least twice a day, and any other time you have the cash to grab their newest products. The thing to keep in mind here is that they want your money. Yeah, the lotion smells nice and feels smooth, but the fact is that over moisturizing can lead to clogging your pores which needless to say is not a good thing. The best advice here is to only use a moisturizer when you need it. If your elbows are aligators, yeah, lube them up, but don't over do it. Lotion covers your pores (the whole idea is it keeps the natural water in your skin from evaporating) and can also aggrivate already sensitive skin. You'll probably get more pimples if you already have oily skin and then you trap that and bacteria in your pores by over moisturizing.
When you do NEED a moisturizer (oily skin usually doesn't as the oil holds in moisture), use an oil free gentle one. If it's for your face, I'd stick with Noxema.

I have the same problem as you and most moisturizers just make my face shiny and greasy.
The only moisturizer I have found to be good is by Estee Lauder called Clear Difference.
It's water-based, so it gives you moisture without the grease.
Listen to me...I sound like a commercial! =)

Aveeno. I have acne prone skin, but Aveeno is a great cream that won't make me break out. And it's affordable!
