I don't for the fact that, they think that it makes kids feel less pressure about status, but you still are judged bc of the brand of uniform, accessories, and that kind of thing. What do you think?

I had to wear them. We felt like prisoners.

My daughter wears a uniform and I love it. Mornings are so simple, she always knows what she's going to wear. She never stands in front of her closet for half hour wailing, "I have nothing to wear!!!" which she occasionally does on Saturday and Sunday, despite the fact that her closet is full of clothing.

At her school, there are only two companies that make their uniform so brand is not an issue, nor are accessories, as the only accessories allowed are small earrings one bracelet or watch or a hairbow or hair tie that must also come from the uniform manufacturer.

I'm all for it. I myself attended a high school that required of uniform and I actually liked it. One of the biggest reasons I liked it is because it put everyone on the same social footing. Kids coming from families with more modest incomes didn't get picked on for wearing budget-brand clothes, while those coming from more affluent backgrounds weren't parading around wearing whatever was trendy at the time, making fun of those who didn't. It also cut down a lot on the bullying leading to extortion, compared to other schools I've been to.

Being a guy, it wasn't that much of a problem for me, but the limited selection of clothing can make morning go by a lot quicker.

As for individuality, we did have a fair bit of leeway. Our uniforms were, really, a selection of clothes from our supplier and there were options available. As for accessorizing, ther were no rules about ties or necktie pins, or other small and professional-looking additions.

My daughter wears a uniform and that i love it. Mornings are so ordinary, she continuously knows what she will placed on. She in no way stands in the front of her closet for 1/2 hour wailing, "I have not something to placed on!!!" which she at times does on Saturday and Sunday, besides the actual undeniable truth that her closet is complete of clothing. At her college, there are in ordinary words 2 organizations that make their uniform so style isn't an situation, nor are upload-ons, because the in ordinary words upload-ons allowed are small rings one bracelet or watch or a hairbow or hair tie which could also come from the uniform producer.

My son got into two schools, one that required a uniform and one that did not. He ended up with the one that did not.

The uniform was a royal pain because we had to focus so much on clothing. It took hours to find the right color and size as he needs a slim size. The shorts could not be flat panelled; they had to have pleats. I had to stitch in pleats for his visit. The shorts were too long because I hadn't shrunk them yet. They had to be within 4 inches of the knee. The beige had to be a certain shade of beige and I had to carry around a clipping in my purse. It was just too much focus on clothing for me.

At this point I could care less if he runs into any clothing problems at his non-uniform school. I have plenty of work around the house so he can earn money and buy whatever he wants.

Regular clothing can cost a student several hundred dollars per year between slacks, shirt, underwear, shoes, etc.

To keep up with the trends costs a lot of money. And the kids feel a lot of pressure to keep up or be ridiculed.

So I'd prefer uniforms to take the peer pressure off of the kids.

I think all public schools should make the kids wear a specific, school-provided uniform. This would take the kids' focus off things like fashion...and trying to impress others...and put it more on learning.

i think its a good idea to have kids wear the uniforms because then people cant judge on how one dresses..They will all be the same and look the same..Its easier so you dont run around looking for clothes in the morning..However uniform colors are ugly so i think they should vote on color choices but i think uniforms overall are a great idea

I think that uniforms are good. My son is in school and it is so much easier. Kids might also get teased, but it is way less than if they did not wear uniforms.

my kids and now grand kids wear uniforms. I really think it is a good idea. there should not be pressure in what they wear. everyone is basically wearing the same thing. I believe it is easier on the parents and the children. it sure was/is on me.

Yes, I think all schools, public and private should wear uniforms. You go to school to learn and get an education, not for a fashion show. You can express yourself outside of school.
