we just bought a new home 6 months ago and I think her plan was to use me to get the house and end things.She never worked until she filed for divorce.Now she is doing home child care but inflating her income not to force sale of the home.My parents paid 5000 towards a down payment we agreed to pay back

It is not ethical and would lead one to suspect wick dipping in a candle factory is the real job.

There are ethical rules about lawyers engaging in business relationships with their clients, but this is the type of collateral conflict of interest that the client can waive. A third-party does not have standing to object to the business transaction.
