Based on Gold medals alone, then the USA would edge out China, but it will be very much closer this time.
And this is because the US is ahead of China, in Athletics and Swimming.
They will fight it out in gymnastics and some team sports.
But China will win the most medals. They doing every thing to narrow the gap with the US and other nations, they want their best ever performance to be on home soil.
But as the Soviets have shown, the US is not unbeatable.

i've never seen so many wrong anwers. China. China is spending every resource they have to clean house in Beijing in 2008. All I can say is watch out. They are the host country and they are going to do EVERYTHING in their power to win at all costs and put their country on the international map. Take a wild guess who came in second to the USA in gold medals in Athens in 2004...

Assuming Gold=3 Silver=2 and Bronze =a million i might say China and the US are co-favorites at 3-a million. As for all of the different countries you listed, all of them have of venture of topping the medal chart besides.

America is the smart choice to go with, but a big sleeper could be Australia. They have a few more swimming superstars, a decent basketball and track program, and an impressive gymnastics team.

I would say the USA but they seem to be losing a lot of athletes in track,how many will be taken back because of steroids. Australia will win a lot and be able to keep em.

Probabley U.S.A. but Japan or China might come out of nowhere because they find some kind of steroids that don't make positive test.
