Can "Girlfriends" survive without Jill Marie Jones?

For me, Toni gave "Girlfriends" the spark that it needed to keep me watching week after week. Without her, the remaining "girlfriends" are just irritating and unable to retain my interest. Joan has become selfish, and before that was just pitiful in her quest to always find "the one." Maya as a character is not enough to carry a sitcom, and Lynn is just plain confused. I'm sorry that they all turned their backs on Jill to make her jump ship due to salary demands, but I would think that they realize the worth of her character to the continued success of the show that they would have tried harder to keep Jill on as a main character. Unfortunately, I don't see the show lasting past this season without her.

I think - kindaa like Friends - that the show works because of the four main characters. I don't think it can work without one of the four. I am really sad to see her go. She was really the only character that could carry her own spin-off.

I agree with you Toni does give the show life. Joan is always confused and makes bad decisions about men, Maya had a good man and decided to mess around (no surprise there!), and Lynn needs to stop being lazy, get a job and get a life.

I guess we'll have to just wait and see. But it definitely won't be the same. I probably won't watch it anymore.
