Most newborns are started wtih milk based formula. The pediatrician can give you advice which one is best. There were differences between the brands, at least for my daughter. She had to be switched to soy formula due to allergy, but one kind of milk formula was harder for her to handle than another.

My aunt told me that the doctor will tell you what brand to use after the baby is born. They will actually give you a sample to bring home. I did a lot of research online to give me an idea of what brand to use. I ended up getting Nesle' Advance because it was available. The other two brands, Similac and Enfamil were all sold out everywhere I went. Similac is the brand that hospitals use. As for soy or regular formula ~> you need to start feeding your baby with regular formula. If your baby has a negative reaction to it, like gas and constipation, you doctor will suggest you to switch to soy.

Generally you should start with a regular formula, like Enfamil with Lipil and only switch to a soy based or low gas formula if the baby has a problem. Consult the baby's pediatrician before making any switches.

When my daughter was born the hospital recommended a type(similac), but it really depends on how the baby reacts to the formula. If thebaby spits it up alot you can try a different formula. Just make sure you don't change formulas to often. it is always a good idea to check with the pediatrician prior to changing formulas as well.

Yes breast milk is the best if you can breastfeed then do that or pump the milk and bottle feed it to the Baby..but if you can't do that cause of difficulties then ask a Doctor which formula would be best for your Newborn

Awesome that you are trying to do what's best for your baby. I'm a huge breastfeeding advocate. Not only is it very convenient (no bottles to clean or heat up or mix), but you give your baby immunities that aren't in formula, so your baby is healthier. This means, not only a happier, healthier and stronger child, but happier parents, less time off from work for parents (if you work), no extra doctor bills, easier life, etc. This list goes on and on! There's tons of research to be done when you're deciding on what's best for your little one. Knowledge is power! Find out why so many women know "breast is best."

Well anybody would tell you that breast-milk is the very best but for whatever reasons you chose not to breastfeed or stop breastfeeding you need to consult your baby's doctor. And sometimes you really don't know whats best for your baby until you baby "lets you know"!

Try the regular stuff first; if the baby is Ok with it stay on it. Read the iron contents also cause if it is higher it causes gastrol intestinal problems some times and colick

check with your doctor, and let the baby drink it, problems persist change it. I prefer the regular formula, my three kids graduate from it. Always consult with your baby's physician.
