It's made to plug into a cigarette lighter, but I can just cut that part off and use the wires. This is for a Halloween costume by the way ;).

use 8 batteries. btw, the link below says AA batteries, but that's for their prodruct, you can use any combination batteries you want just as long as it adds up to 12 volts.

well, how about one 12 volt car battery (there are usually old car batteries available for that sort of thing, or, in a pinch, you could use a car battery charger)

if you don't want to go that route,

you can get the 12 volts by wiring two six-volt lantern batteries in series (wire one battery plus to one batter minus then wire the other two battery leads, one plus and one minus, to the light)

if the black light doesn't glow brightly enough, you can add another two in parallel (that means hook two pair together plus to plus and minus to minus, before hooking the pairs up in series as described above, treating a pair of batteries like one big battery)

good luck

since you didn't give any wattage info on the light, I can't guess how long it will burn with 6 volt lantern batteries, but I would guess several hours

they have got 12 converters to 120 volts, i have one in my van, you just plug it in to the cigarette lighter and there you go, i run battery chargers for my hand drill it will work lights and whatever, but you would have to be driving most of the time to charge. Good Luck bro

a car's electrical system is 12 volts. so get a 12 volt battery. or if you have lower volt batteries (AA is 1.2, i think.) , run them in a series to add up to 12.
10" tube will drain the batteries fast tho.

you need 12 volts ( most batteries are 1.5v connect them in-line to reach 12v) YOUR BEST BET is a 12v powerpack made for camcorders( HAVE DAD BUY ONE he can use it for the cell phone and his laptop also) or TWO 6V lantern batterys -ask Dad how to wire them ) if you are an Adult sorry about the DAD---------------as for the answers below you are going to get a little tired lugging around that car battery or you will be tripping on that darn cord lol lol lol

Check to see what are power ratings for your black light, i.e., the voltage and power required.
