You have a coolant overflow tank under the hood. On Mercedes it is usually mounted on the inside of the passenger side fender. It is a milky colored plastic tank with a couple of hoses coming out of it. One is just an overflow hose that drains to the ground. Another leads to the radiator.
Depending upon where you live, the mixture of anitfreeze and water will vary, but in most of the continental United States a 50/50 mix is appropriate.
Incidentally, there are two types of coolant available. One is yellowish green and the other is orange. Your C280 uses the orange variety.
I've owned a little over a half dozen Mercedes over the years, stretching clear by to the 1950s and done just about all of the work on them myself.

If you are standing in front of your car, facing your car, and hood open, look to your left and toward the passenger side firewall.
You'll see a tank with black top and a cap on top. Bottom half is usually clear. Fill the tank half way up - or where the arrow is pointing. You should check this with your owner's manual, just in case your exact model is different.
By the way, this tank is not an overflow tank. This is the "upper tank" and is pressurized. (your overflow tank is actually hidden in the passenger side fender). Be careful if your car is even warm. There could be quite a bit of pressure in there.
On Mercedes-Benz vehicles, you do NOT fill it up to the rim, like most American or Japanese cars. You fill it HALF WAY to the point where arrow is pointing down.
Also, do NOT mix regular coolant into your vehicle. You should use Mercedes-Benz coolant. It is usually pink. The formulation is quite different from usual green ones. A gallon jug is about 12 dollars from dealers. Mix it with clean drinking water 50/50.
If you find that coolant is already half full, your sensor might be defective. This is a known failure in your vechicle...

I don't know about yours but my car doesn't have a place to fill the radiator directly. You have fill the coolant tank. I would get it checked out as soon as possible and keep an eye on your temp gage. If you start to overheat pull over and let the car cool down.
