Seriously - I'm curious. I've read all the anti-Hillary diatribes, so there's no need to leave them here. I'd really like to hear from some people who have educated, measured opinions of her.

I like her, and I've liked her since before her husband became president. In fact, you might suggest that the 1992 presidential election was one in which the wives of both the candidates were more qualified than the candidates themselves.

But perhaps because I teach at a university, I'm more comfortable being around bright, outspoken women. In all I think this is the root of the dislike - the things we admire in a male we are scared of in a woman.

For instance, remember the uproar when Theresa Heinz-Kerry told a reporter to "shove it"? And remember the absolute lack of uproar (and even the praise) when Dick Cheney told a congressman to "go F--K yourself"?

And the root of this fear? Insecurity, I'm guessing.

In 2008 Hillary Clinton will run for president. She is a fiery liberal. The problem is that she will pretend to be a middle of the road candidate when there is an election. She will not give an honest assesment of herself. In addition when running for the U.S senate in New York she vowed to help impoverished areas in the north of New York. Thus far that promise has only been words. Finally many people believe that Hillary Clinton is not genuine in her marrige. She and her husband do not live together and only appear side by side during democratic conventions. Before the Iraq war she claimed that Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons. Basically no one likes Hillary because she tries to distort who she really is.

I lean toward liberal mostly and have nothing personal against her. However, she would not be my first choice for President in 2008. There are some decisions, particularly being in favor of the Iraq invasion and occupation, which bother me a lot. She would likely be an effective President, but I think she's turned into too much of a professional politician. She needs to serve one more term as senator and spend more time with her constiuents. I'm not a big fan of dynasties, either. Bush, Jr is a prime example. If Hillary gets the nod as Democratic candidate, I will vote for her, even over McCain, of whom I used to be a major supporter.

It's the fear of a strong woman. You know, if a man is strong, he is great. If a woman is strong, she is a *****.

I think she has some good ideas, and I know there are others that feel the same way. But the ones that oppose her are typically conservative, and it's no wonder why they oppose her. They are afraid of her. The things they argue she has done, most male politicians have also done. So what? Those men are in office! Why isn't she a good candidate for president? Like she could do any worse than the monkey in the oval office right now.

The facts support that she is a political chameleon. She will be whatever you want her to be as long as you vote for her. After she is elected she will however do whatever she can to make sure the corporations, lawyers, insurance companies and the billionaire socialists who put up the money to get her elected are well paid back.

Now that is an honest, educated opinion. She is not honest and appears to be extremely weak or completely lacking in morals.

I don't know how "measured" you will consider my answer but here is my problem with Hilary.
She strikes me as very Machiavellian. I don't trust her. I think she has poor character, or poor judgment, or both.
If you stay married to someone who is abusing the vows of matrimony, ESPECIALLY if you do if for power and position, you cheapen the entire concept of marriage and you make a mockery of the institution.
If she had divorced Bill when he first started pathologically cheating, then perhaps I could see her as a victim and perhaps chalk it up as a mistake, but she stayed and let herself be one of many in what was to be a monogamous relationship.
Let's not forget how she belittled housewives and stay at home mom. Remember the issues with the Travel Office and the mysterious documents that disappeared only to show up again in her office?
She is either cunning or cowardly, but she is not courageous.

Hilliary is no different than any other liberal politician. She sways in the wind, jumps on both sides of an issue depending on who she is speaking to. Pretty much a female version of Kerry.

I don't think we need someone in office like Hillary. She is too left wing. I'm all for a female president though.

People like to make fun of her cause she is a woman in politics, and she took old Bill back after the BJ incident. No self respect. If she punted him after the bj incident I think she would have more respect .

Its not about a fear of strong women, because I'm for girl power
but she's bitchy and really only cares about her opinion and her
wants.
