Easiest way I've found to do this is to take a 3.5mm cord and connect it from your output for the speakers to the imput for the mike. Then use whatever to record the file with, hit record... Then hit play on the file you want to record... You may have to turn down the volume that is outputting through your computer to a fairly low level, but it will work.

The person above may be right - but that process is long and unneeded.
Download Audacity, its free. < http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ >
Once installed, run it - and select "Wave Out Mix", "What U Hear", "Stereo Output", or whatever else your sound card calls the feed going out to your speakers - in the Record menu drop down box.
After that is selected, hit record - and play whatever you need to record - an online video, a DVD, an encrypted iTunes file - whatever.
This method is losless and immediate - resulting in the exact quality from what you hear, and no cables are needed!
That should do it - message me if you have more questions.
