I'm thinking about writing a story throughout my school year. I need ideas, but strictly around uncommon, realistic things that actually could happen.

Pretty much realistic fiction.

Yea. I was also considering mixing stuff like action, romance, maybe a little comedy, etc.

Write what you know -- or at least start there. Take some event -- unusual or everyday -- and play "what if" with it. Then write about that.

Hard for an outsider to say "You should write about...." since I don't know you or your interests or knowledge. As long as you start from a place you're comfortable with, and start playing outside that comfort zone, you have a chance at an interesting, edgy story.

Good luck.

Make a story about your life, but change it to have a twist of some kind.
Give yourself super powers, make it a different era, add dragons and wizards and cliche things like that.

Or, you could do something completely different like write a story about a young boy and his sister are kidnapped from a middle class family in the country, but no ransom note is given and there is nothing out of the ordinary to make them stand out from the other kids of the area, etc etc.

Write about what you know. Your fears and your loves. Give them a time and a place and the story will come. Imagine a story for the guy you see walking down the street. What does he look like, what does he have in that bag slung over his shoulder. That kind of stuff.
Keep writting and something will eventually come out of it. It takes time.

The best advise I could give is... write about what you know. If you are involved in sports, write about your experiences there - or if you are involved in theater write about the drama that's always found backstage. Or perhaps you may write about journalism, debate, or maybe the trials of juggling several different extracurriculars. The point is when you write about what you know your story comes off more believable.

Think about what you are most familiar with, outline the plot, create detailed settings and develop the characters... then write the story with a TWIST that is always probable but would rarely occur.

You could try writing about someone who has to go under the witness protection program because they watched a brutal murder, and the killer is coming after them. Of course, in the end there is a confrontation. You make up the rest. it's your book.

Asking random strangers for writing ideas is a sign of either...

A: Lack of confidence in your own ideas
B: Lack of imagination or overall creative thought
C: Lack of intelligence
or D: All of the above.

Please get your own ideas!

You could write about a kid who's father was killed in front of them. Make it about the kids life after and their search for the killer.
