Oh c'mon that would be like me saying extremist Kansas was representative of typical conservative thinking...
Man that is San Francisco....it's what it is and always has been...a haven for nut jobs.
I am a proud Liberal Democrat and always will be. Of course I don't march with those kind of vile signs either. I'm a moderate.
But man what is with all the naked folks (you know the kind you don't want to see naked)?? What is up with that?
Cut it out all you crazies in San Fran. You're giving Liberal a bad name.

Have you ever seen the protests conducted by ultra conservative church groups at gay soldiers funerals? These men gave their lives in Iraq and while their families are trying to lay them to rest, the protesters are yelling "God hates f@gs". Nice, huh? My point is both parties have their share of extremest nut jobs. Most democrats don't identify with those people in California any more than most republicans agree with the protests at soldiers funerals.
UPDATE:
You are right about there being some antiwar groups protesting soldiers funerals. The protests I was referring to are from churches with a strong anti gay agenda (hardly liberal) who are also protesting funerals. Both are reprehensible. Here is an example.

To answer your question, no, this is not typical liberal thinking here. Every group has its loony fringe.
I don't condemn the conservatives for groups like this:

who, by the way, are being defended by the ACLU for their right to protest. Like you, I don't always agree with whom they defend, but I love the fact that they are about defending rights, not ideologies.

My 65 year old brother was saying today that what a shame it is that no one can say that they are a republican or a democrat OR......they just want politicans to all quit being so extremists. He is a republican and I am a democrat.....he thinks that the nation is in shambles and we both agree on that!!!!!!!!! We are all just people who want this extremism to stop and be civil people.

This is the liberal fringe, just like skinheads are the far-right fringe. The only difference is conservatives constantly have to pretend that the left-fringe represents mainstream liberal thinking. The Democrats don't have to pretend that the right-wing fringe represents conservative mainstream thought. The conservative mainstream has already shown they are totally inept and incapable of leading this country, so we don't have to play make believe....

Those kooks are in no way, shape or form "Liberals."
Only a typical IQ-challenged red-state denizen would confuse these wackos with Liberals.
