All the coverage I've seen indicates it was a pretty clean election.
I think it is probaby good for Mexico that Calderón won.
The behavior of Obrador, especially after the election, is shameful and embarassing. It proves to me that he is more interested in power than democracy.
Obrador would have improved relations with Chavez and Castro but Calderón should be able to improve relations with EVERYONE else.

I think the candidate is not "elected" but "selected", like in USA, or Canada, or UK....Democracy is a myth.....

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

"For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with other around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." David Rockefellers memoirs (2002)

I think us Americans should help Mexico become the next China. That will help us out more with world relations. That way we don't have to live completly off China like we kinda are now. Hopefully someday Mexico will become a world Superpower with the United States.

Diane M has a good point. With so many people saying the US should stay out of other countries affairs, I'm surprised anyone is asking our opinion of Mexico's elections.

If you watch only one conspiracy documentary ever, make it this one. This just might be the best introductory video out there. Understand that every claim made in this is fact, not opinion, no matter how wild it sounds. It's all easily verifiable through mainstream news archives and public documents.

I'm actually tired of Mexican citizens telling me how we should run things in this country, so I think I'll leave the Mexican elections to the Mexicans. Who was it who said "a people generally get the kind of government they deserve"?
