Because our current President, George W. Bush, took the goodwill that we were experiencing in the days following 9/11 and stomped on it by invading a country that wasn't involved in the attack just so he could get rid of Saddam Hussein and try to turn Iraq into a democracy. We all know what's been happening as a result of that. Three years later, he has the nerve to act surprised when Iran and North Korea, which actually do have the capacity for nuclear weapons of the sort he was telling us that Saddam had, laugh at us and say, "It's only a matter of time before we get OUR WMD's. Now what are you going to do?"
Furthermore, those countries in the region which have actually been able to have democratic elections lately haven't necessarily been producing new pro-democracy governments.

Arrogance, the unilateral attack on a UN nation that didn't attack it first . The we have to go now attitude over Iraq that didn't want to let the rest of the world try the diplomatic solution first,
The way he went all cocky thinking it would be over in 3 weeks. The premature arrogant smirky cocky way he called a halt to major combat operations in Iraq? Flying in in the fighter,(what a joke) His over confidence that kept him from sending enough troops in the first place. And then after all that, His critique of the rest of the NATO countries that didn't want to get involved after the fact, when they all told him not to go into Iraq in the first place.
He went into Iraq only to save Daddy bushes face for pulling out too soon from gulf war 1, and to secure the oil Fields under US controll.
Like it or lump it that's what the world thinks .

Exactly, lack of respect for the rest of the world. Our leader(s) are arrogant, obnoxious and rude to the rest of the world. Please accept the peoples apologies for this. We are going to overthrow these beasts next election.

This coming from a liberal? Not surprised. It's the blame-America-first crowd.
If the world hates America, why are people dying to get in?
