People who have a victim mentality are a real curse.
They need to be challenged.
But when they are challenged they cry their eyes out getting everybody's sympathy and support and they continue to cry until the challenge is withdrawn and an apology is received.
So they usually succeed in defending themselves from any unwanted pressure.
If you reason with them then they will come out with excuses or pseudo-reasons for rejecting your requests or suggestions.
They are needy. They aren't very good at coping, managing, surviving or thriving. And they always find excuses or pseudo-reasons for rejecting advice or requests.
If you tell them the truth about them then they may complain of hurt or offence. And other people may rally round to protect the victim's feelings by turning on the truth teller. Surely the victim needs to hear other people's versions of the truth. What's more important? Protecting victims (stupid people) from hurt or harm or being supported in telling your truth.

If being a victim serves them (gets them attention, food, "love", etc.), they will continue that reality. Confront them, and if they listen, great! If they don't listen, move out of their way and let them find somebody else to support their reality. Either that, or lower your expectations. Be the change you want to see in the world.

When I was young I was on the streets and many bad things happened to me so I got into this victim mentality. I really felt like poor me! why me? and so on then one day a good friend told me
" IN LIFE THERE AREN'T VICTIMS ONLY VOLUNTEER'S"
I really thought about that and what she was saying is whatever was happening to me was partly my problem cause I was in the victim act/mentality so I was manifesting these things to happen to me. I think you shouldn't spare these people with the victim problem. They should be confronted, whether it hurts or not, the reality is that letting these people stay how they are is damaging to themselves and the people around them.
