Scientology is a new religion that worships no gods. Its supposed to make society better. No crime no poverty no steeling no substance abuse. They started with 12 people. those 12 people got 12 more people and that's why its i think the # 1 growing religion. I'm pentecostal and we just finish doing a study about those people. tell that 14 yr old to forget about it, that's not close to being a religion.

Hi there, I hope I can give you an easy to understand answer and also set the record straight about what Scientology is and is not.

First of all Scientology is NOT a cult. Scientology has been well established as a bona-fide religion:

Courts in the United States have always held that Scientology is a religion; indeed, in a September 1993 federal appeals court ruling, the judges pronounced that there had not been a single instance in which a United States court held otherwise.

The most significant official recognition of the Scientology religion came in October 1993 when the United States Internal Revenue Service granted full religious recognition to all churches of Scientology and related social betterment organisations, concluding after an exhaustive and thorough review that Scientology churches are established and operated exclusively for religious and charitable purposes. The IRS also determined that Scientology is a bona fide religion and that the Church of Scientology met the detailed criteria of the IRS to qualify as a “Church.”

The IRS examination was not limited to the United States, but specifically included reviews of the financial affairs and activities of Church organisations from Australia to Europe. Its findings were uniform — churches of Scientology operate for the benefit of the public interest.

European governments have since then rendered similar recognitions of the religious and charitable status of churches of Scientology. Often, they were preceded by rulings of the leading courts.

And now, a little about what the Scientology religion is all about:

Scientology is about the individual man or woman. Its goal is to bring an individual to a sufficient understanding of himself and his life and free him to improve conditions in the way that he sees fit.

The Scientology religious philosophy contains a precise system of axioms, laws and techniques, exhaustively researched and documented as workable. As such, it provides the individual with the ability to dramatically improve conditions, not only in his own life but in the world around him.

In a word, Scientology works.

And this is why millions of people the world over use its principles in their daily lives, why a growing number of people find such relevance in Scientology for themselves, their families, their organizations, their nations and this entire civilization.

All Scientologists are drug-free, and spearhead effective actions in countries around the world to get others off drugs. Scientologists have helped millions of underprivileged children to dramatically improve their reading level, vocabulary and comprehension, and the record of Scientology’s fight for human rights is unparalleled. Scientology’s commitment to social betterment activities also includes rehabilitating criminals and teaching people right from wrong.

The aims of Scientology are a civilization without war, without insanity and without criminals, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights and man is free to rise to greater heights.

Scientology is not authoritarian. There is no enforced belief. Rather, a maxim in Scientology is that only those things which one finds true for himself are true. In Scientology one learns to think for himself – it is a voyage of self-discovery.

There is a lot of misinformation on the internet about Scientology put out by anti-religious bigots. The true story of Scientology is simple, concise and direct. It is quickly told:

1. A philosopher develops a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

Hope that helps. And I'll leave you with some links where you can learn more about Scientology and some of the Church's social betterment organizations.

Courses on communication, better studying habits, self confidence, shaking peer pressure, getting off drugs, and getting around blocks to your goals. But the beginner courses abouit $100 last time I checked which might be beyond a 14 year olds means.

It was researched by a writer back in the 1950s when you had to be a doctor or a church to help people with their problems.

Scientology was founded by the late L. Ron Hubbart. According to Scientology, our mental defects are caused by ingrams. We get ingrams in our mind when we experience pain. Scientologists believe they can erease ingrams. When a person's ingrams are eliminated, they become what is called a "clear." A "clear" is supposedly very content and happy. I guess that explains Cruises joyous jumping on Oprah's couch.

Scientology: applied religious philosophy began in 1953 by L. Ron Hubbard; he claims to help humans achieve awareness of their spiritual existence over many life times(reincarnation) and become more physically aware in this world; to rehabitate the soul to regain its native state of freedom.

It is a scheme that L. Ron Hubbard came up with to steal money. Since taking money form people is stealing, he had to trick them into handing it over. So he made up this religion that said that everything bad in our life is caused by alien ghosts that posess us.

Then, to learn more about it and to get the ghosts removed, you have to pay a lot of money, more and more the higher you go.
