Something tells me that Hillary Clinton would have gotten much further in life WITHOUT Bill by her side. I think he holds her back in many ways. Not to say that I like Hillary, far from it. I just think that being married to the "lying philanderer" and standing by him makes her look less strong.
In any event, Hillary is considered a feminist icon because she walks in traditionally male dominated roles. She's a lawyer, a politician, and she's the rock that holds that marriage together. And remember, she grew up in a time where it really wasn't common for women to be in these roles.
I think the real question is, does Hillary Clinton expouse the virtues that we want our feminist icon to have?

She is the only thing the liberals have right now.The party just wants someone who will follow the party line.Right now she has the spotlight. If she crosses Dean she can forget it.Also her problem is what to do with Bill for 4 to 8 years.He knows the White House to well..

You got it wrong, the liberals don't see Hilary Clinton as a feminist, that is a title the conservatives pin into her to make her look bad,( many people don't like feminists), and her success is the result of years in the ring, you look like on of those guys that that think that soiling a person reputation will make them disappear, if that were true Bush would be a ghost

Because she was already in the spotlight for being the wife of a democrat president, Stayed by her husband through his cheating, which kept divorce rates down and kept up the icon that families should stick it out through thick and thin. Then she went to become a senator for the greatest state ever (ha ha ha). And is actually doing good for the state. She is seen as a woman in power, she cut bills balls off and is running a state. She is basically everything the Democrats stand for. She is change, she is supporting her family rather than the classic man.
