MAY I ALSO SAY tha jim brown set records in football and is apart of the top 10 backfield and is the best fulback. Also knowing that he fought threw racial intolerance and stil set the rushing record. He also bit a guys finger while on the field, thats got to count on something.

Without a doubt it has to be my mate Chalky from down the Horse and Ferret pub. I once saw him run a 100 meters in less then three seconds with a pint of best bitter in one hand and a bag of cheese and onion crisps in the other and he never lost a drop. Mind, he was being chased by his wife at the time - she'd just caught him chatting up Charleen the barmaid. Tasty!

I agree that Jim Brown may have been the greatest athlete in football. To me, Jim Thorpe was the best athlete of all time. An Olympic gold medal winner in the decathlon and pentathlon, college and pro football star and also played Major League Baseball.

Someone said Deion Sanders. That person had the right last name, Wrong first name. Barry Sanders is the best athlete to step on a football field and best athlete of all-time. He could have easily shattered so many records if A. He wasn't on the Lions and B. He kept playing for 5-7 more years like he could have.

Thorpe totally blows away everyone just for the fact that he had high achievments in more than one sport.
and my 2 cents. Jim Brown was great in his day (which is really all you can say of anyone), but I hate when people call him the best rusher ever, because IMO, you have to have more talent than everyone else, not just be better than people in your respective time (He was 6'2" 228, which was big for his day, so he just ran people over --today that would be undersized for that height and I doubt he'd be that good)
Payton and Sanders wipe the floor with him talent wise, and Emmit Smith close behind (too good of a line, great FB, and good WRs to take off pressure --so I don't consider him better than Sweetness or Barry).

Jom Brown was the best football player and was also quite an athlete. He was a dynamite lacrosse player at Syracuse. The best athlete of all time though is Jim Thorpe in my opinion.

Jim Thorpe. He won Olympic gold medals in the pentathlon and decathlon, starred in college and professional football, played Major League Baseball and also had a career in basketball.

His airness - Michael Jordan. 6 Championships in the NBA, was also good enough to play professional baseball, although he never amounted to much there. He won 6 MVP's, Rookie OF The Year, the list goes on and on. He also lead team USA's dream team.
Tigers not bad either
