It's because people are really religious and read the bible, go to church, pray for their god all day long. In that book, "God" says that " A man shall not marry another man, a man shall marry a woman" but look at this side, does the world really need another billions of other popularity, even if you decide to kill people in Russia and Middle east that is, not all of it but most, they will be killed for being in the LGBTQ+ orgin. Not in Russia, but in the Middle east, if they do that, that will lose rate of homosexuals, but that will inspire people to join in see? I mean in every school across the globe, there's a kid who thinks he's homosexual, but he doesnt wanna say, and then into their teenage years they come out to their parents, which is normal. And then there will be more people raising adopted kids and they will become gay maybe, and then there will be more and more and more. So they're not doing anything better by ending life over someones life. People also think it's "Disgusting" or "Wrong" or either "Weird" and that's because they're immature, If you're in a school with kids, most of them will think that homosexuality is "disgusting" and "wrong"

You're a very good person for seeing things so objectively, especially at your age. Besides reporting such behavior to a counselor or other proper authority (which I know is probably the LAST thing you want to do), you could just try approaching him and telling him that you don't feel the same way about him and that he shouldn't let that sort of behavior get to him.

If it seriously bothers you, get educated, and start doing something about it. Inaction means you're still part of the problem (in regards to ANY issue). And, sorry to tear a hole in your sheltered upbringing, but being called names in highschool isn't the worst thing that's going on for GLBT people right now. Getting the ever-living daylights kicked out of them in highschool is a little higher on the list, but there's a LOT going on that's not going to go away on its own.
to kalkidan62003: how would you appreciate someone telling you that if you don't want to have to deal with racism, you should wear white makeup every day? People who think it's ok to judge and belittle and harass and assault others are the problem here, not the people who refuse to LIE about themselves.

This kind of garbage will go on until people make it socially unacceptable to make such comments. The world needs more people who think as you do and who are then willing to take the next step and make a stand for what they know to be right.
Many Blessings...

When I was a senior (and not out of the closet yet) we had our day of one acts for the advanced drama class. I had to play a woman (I'm a guy) and my best friend played a guy (she's a she). In between some of them, I was walking around in the audience and someone called out my name and said, "Hey, you a queer?" Lots of idiots laughed. Then, the girl beside me who I only kinda new turned around and said, "why the F@ck don't you shut your mouth, before I come over there and shut it for you." THEN EVERYBODY CRACKED UP. It made me feel so good. I remeber her and thank her for that to this day (7 years later).

In high school the kids feel insecure about their own sexuality sometimes or just want to act cool by maing fun of someone. All you can do is stick up for the guy and ignire the idiot making fun of him. If people ignore him, he'll evenyually shut up

I think its what they are shown on T.V. the way gays are portrayed as second class citizens that don't and won't amount to anything. Most t.v. shows show a tipical househould of the wife, husband and children. Yes there was will and grace, but that feautured adults.
The problem is, the community and schools are willing to show and teach kids about safety, sex ed, and even parents teach the kids about manners. But no one has really told anybody about tolerance to people that are different, or perceived as different. Its look at as funny (being gay) strange, and never normal.

unless and until more people speak out against such behavior (especially supportive straight people), and bigots keep thinking it's ok to teach their children to be bigots, too, then this kind of thing won't stop. hug your friend, tell that footballer to shut the hell next time.

You should go to tell the guy to leave him alone, he's being very insecure for taunting someone about their own sexuality.
I'm seriously glad there are still people in the world who feel bad for poor kids like that!!
You should tell the guy who was being messed with that, I'm sure it would make him feel better.
