Trust me, even if next year New York goes 160 - 0 and Boston goes 0 - 162, New York and Boston will always hate each other. And Boston fans will still be making excuses, but thats all they are excuses, New York will always be better, so even though Boston was close, they might as well have been "declined into obscurity" because at the end of the year, who's better? The Yankees. They are always our rivals, even though they always pose no threat whatsoever.

The Red Sox are far from obscurity. There's still a lot of baseball left to be played and in the words of Yogi Berra, "It aint over til it's over." So I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the Sox. Amazing things happen in September.
