I got into a discussion today at my doctor's appt. He told me that women were the emotional ones and men were the sexual. He went on to say that rarely, a woman is very sexual and that she is normally just into sex for the emotional aspect of it where a guy is mostly physical and is in the emotional relationship for the sexual aspect of it. What do you think?

well that is true for the most part but personally for me, I love sex and not just for the "emotions" I love the way it feels, I love the way it makes my husband feel. So for the most part yea your doctor is right. My husband loves it. and yes probably more so for the feelings of it. but for women. there are women who love sex. I'm addicted to sex. I love it. can't get enough of it. like I said not just for the "emotions".

I can agree with that women are very emotional and alot of times we want to feel loved and cared for. There are men whom sometimes crave the same things but normally it's us that want the physical and emotion aspect. I think as men get older they become more emotional rather then just physical and that when they start to look for that "Mrs. Right" , but when they are younger it's all about the sex.

I agree with your doctor for the most part. I am a woman and I enjoy the physical part of sex very much but it's really the emotional part of sex that I crave more. I believe that men really need that physical sensation more than women. I guess it depends on who you ask but the majority of women that I know, want that emotional feeling more.

Umm, your doctor was really going a bit far. I am sure the doctor is a male, and he is making blanketed statements about both genders. Not true that woman are rarely very sexual. It is true that we are emotional, but so are men, you guys are socialized not to show emotions. Tell the doc not to quit his day job.

i think that both men & women are emotional & sexual. havent you noticed the new men out there now. they now have a emotional side as well. & a lot of women only go for the guys for sex. SO everything is turning round now.

well i think during the first year in a relationship it will be equal from then on the womans sexual drive decreases every year while for men it stays the same. I think its got a lot to do with the fact that women become secure in the relationship... and have other things on their mind... :)

BULLSH*T!!! This was your doctor telling you this crap? He needs a reality check. Perhaps that's HIS relationship.
I enjoy sex just as much as my bf, and his emotional aspect is just as strong as mine.
Granted, men DO NEED sex and often it's for the physical aspect. But there's no rule that says it's just physical.

I know I'm not a lady... But judging from how things are seen... I've seen it actually to start turning the opposite. Now, generally speaking it is true... But I know plenty of women who just want sex for sex and men who look at sex as entirely emoitional.

The only reason you should be having that kind of 'discussion' with a doctor was if he was your sex therapist. That is crossing the line between dr and patient!
