You are never too old to go back to school! Don't feel bad. There are 98 year olds going back to school and getting degrees (HS and college) so don't feel bad! There are a lot of people who are in school, but may not be at smaller colleges or universities w/in their home city because they have families and it is more affordable. You have to be determined to get it. Don't be concerned about how other people are going to view you...just look at it this way, there are people who haven't completed their education at all and probably never will. So I commend you if you do decide to do it!

I thought this post was going to be by someone in their 60s and even then I would've said: go back, it's not too late. But if you're in your 20s then it is definitely absolutely not too late at all!
If you are concerned about being older than many students then you could do some research on schools that have larger percentages of non-traditionally aged students. This is a big segment of US colleges so you won't feel alone if you do a bit of research on this and pick a school that has students of all ages.
If you are talking about one particular school, even then, I am sure you won't be the only one who is not 22 or less.

It's a simplistic cost/benefit analysis. Would you make more vs. the cost of school if you had a degree than you would if you spent the same amount of time working in your field? Keep in mind that many upper management positions are not open to employees without undergrad and higher degrees, unless you're truly exceptional (even then it might be a hard sell.) If you want to make a moderate income and you know you're not super-talented at what you do, you're probably better off going back to school.

I just recently retired from 37 yrs of being auto mechanic, and I've be going to college to get a degree in radiology. I'm excited about what I'm learning. And can't wait until I can start working in the field.I was happy with all the new computers within the automotive repair job. I developed emphysema and choose to retire from all the exhaust fumes and petro products because of my health.I didn't include my age as a factor in choosing to educate myself further. That's what we all should love to do.

You are NEVER too old to go back to school. I had a friend in the 50's that went back and on the news not long ago there was a woman in her late 80's. Learning is forever.
Good Luck.

You are just fine- go back to school and get that degree!
I taught part-time at a University ( a history survey class). Some of my best students were "non-traditional" students. They worked the hardest, came prepared and scored the best on the exams. They were motivated and wanted to get their degrees.
If this sounds like you, go for it! Give yourself a "gift" of an education. Once you have it, it cannot be taken from you.
Go for it! Go for it! Go for it!

Are you kidding?
You're NEVER too old to go back to school. So you've got three years down, and you're afraid to tuff out the last year?
Definitely go for it, don't worry about sitting in a class room full of people younger than you, if anything they'll hold you in high respect for going back. I know so many people who continued to work on their schooling throughout their 30's, 40's, and I think its magnificent.. you're never to old to be in school.

never- many veterans start college after a 30 year military career. I went to nursing school after 30 years in nuclear submarines . Only problem is, us older folks have to work a bit harder to absorb the data than the young pups do, but we retain it better too.
