Try bringing a water sample to a pet store, they will be able to tell you.
Now if your fish was in the bowl dead for a long time you'll probably get a falsely high ammonia reading.

Was it a lack of water or lack of food? Pouring a coke into the tank? Feeding the fish the last piece of cold pizza? Trying to see if the fish could tread water while the toilet bowl flushed? Maybe it was dead to begin with.

well my dad has two fish tanks.. some times they die cause of the water.. like it needs to have aqua safe in it.. and if it was salt water tank maybe it was jsut the amount of salt or sutmin.. some time cause of the food that u are feeding the fish..

Hard to answer without more details (new tank? new fish?, etc)
If you recently set up your tank (within the last couple of weeks or days), they probably died from 'new tank syndrome' (do a search on that phrase for more details). Fish don't do well in tanks that aren't cycled.

MAYBE..... you did not take care of it well or you forgot to feed him. Or just maybe old age

maybe u forgot to feed him/her, or clean out his/her cage. or it could of been old age.
