I clearly have plenty of memory space left. but when I try to save something on it it says it's full - it isn't!!!???

Check the files on the flashdrive for security software. It may be compliant with Windows, Mac, and Linux which may have areas designated just for each of those file systems. Not sure about the validity of this argument.

Are there hidden areas on the drive?

Download Sequoiaview software. It reveals files on your computer in a graphical way like no other software. It might work to view your flashdrive file areas. It's free and no adware. It could see my files on my flashdrive just fine.

You should not reformat the flashdrive unless it comes with a utility for that purpose. Flashdrives format is different than a hard disk drive even though the flashdrive may use a FAT file system.

transfer your data to the computer then reformat see what happens should take care of it something is hid.
